fash⋅ion [fash-uh n] 1. a prevailing custom or style of dress, etiquette, socializing, etc.: the latest fashion in dresses 2. conventional usage in dress, manners, etc.,esp. Of polite society, or conformity to it: the dictates of fashion 3. Manner; way; mode: in a warlike fashion. Well that was boring! Whereas fashion may have many definitions and different interpretations by everybody and anybody, we personally don't like the 'conventional' usage in dress. ‘Conventional’ might as well read: ordinary or standard. Not exactly what you are looking for at fashion week! Maybe we should call it not-fashion week? Anyhow at Modefabriek there was enough of ‘not conventional dress’ to get us over the dictionary definition of fashion. Especially the fashion schools, AMFI and KAKB had us excited with their ‘collections’ by Individuals and 3rd Bachelor by HTNK. The young talents stole all of our attention at Modefabriek! Same goes for Modefabriek’s own concept ‘Superstore’, the only place where you can actually buy some of the addictive stuff that you see (applause)! Their creations were passionate, boundary breaking and felt as a breath of crispy fresh air, sharp, stimulating and encouraging; their not-conventional-fashion is what we want!
